From traditional to contemporary
From traditional to contemporary, a beautiful staircase creates a stunning centrepiece in your home.
We can design and make all types of staircases from a basic design to the most complex or intricate shapes. Our staircases are all handmade for customers.
Whatever you’re looking for, we can help. Take a look at our Facebook page to see some examples of our work.
Internal staircases
Staircases can be produced from many different types of wood – including oak and Accoya® (for bare wood) or softwood/laminated timber (for carpeted stairs).
Typical features can include:
- simple straight flights
- complex curved string
- closed or cut string
- alternate tread
- kit winding stairs
- single or double bullnose steps
- spiral staircases.
Using traditional techniques, our joiners handcraft all the base rails, handrails, stair newel posts and caps, spindles, stair treads, balustrades and intricate features such as volutes.
For balustrades, we can make any style, from a simple modern square design to highly ornate features. For a contemporary, on-trend look, glass can be incorporated into the design.
External staircases
These staircases can be manufactured from various hardwoods for strength and durability – in traditional or modern styles. We can also incorporate metal into the design.
Taking care of every detail
Tucker Joinery can take care of the design, manufacture and installation for you or work with your builder.
For design projects, we’ll visit your home to discuss your requirements in detail and take all the measurements. We can advise on all the practical considerations and any space constraints. Alternatively, we can work from drawings supplied by your architect or builder.
We’ll produce 2D CAD drawings so you can see how the staircase will fit into your living space. Once you’ve approved the design, our expert joiners can then get to work.
Building regulations and planning permission
As the homeowner, you’ll be responsible for submitting any building regulations application or planning permission request, if this is required. We can help guide you through the process.
Stress-free staircase installation
We can either manage the installation or supply the staircase for your builder or carpenter to fit.
Our staircases arrive at your home in a natural state ready for finishing on-site – to avoid any scuffs or marks in transit. Your staircase can then be hand-painted on-site, once fitted.
